An Albanian woman casts her vote in Tirana on June 28, 2009. Albanians went to the polls on Sunday in legislative elections seen as crucial for the country’s European Union aspirations, with surveys showing the two main rivals neck and neck. In the seventh parliamentary elections since the fall of communism in the early 1990s, some 3.1 million voters were asked to choose 140 deputies from some 4,000 candidates representing 39 parties and coalitions.
